Keytones without high glucose

My 12yr old daughter has been having keytones daily even without high blood sugars.  She hasn't lost any weight it isn't dieting or starvation.  Her keytones range from Moderate to trace but have rarely been negative in the last month.  She had Mono 6 months ago then strep.  She struggled with high sugars w/ occasional keytones through the illness.  She was feeling better for 3-4 weeks then began having severe fatigue, trouble with concentration/memory, muscle pain, nausea, dizzy and headaches.  We first noticed keytones with a high sugar reading, but as we treated for it the keytones were slow to lower.  She still had small keytones the next morning with normal sugars.  Her sugar control has been good and doesn't seem to closely relate to the keytone level.  It isn't the flu and the pediatric diabetes team doesn't know what to make of it.  She doesn't have celiac, thyroid problems or anything that basic blood tests can detect.  Her Dr. is still trying to rule out causes.  She's missing a lot of school and can barely function.  Has anyone heard of this type of problem?  Any suggestions on specialists that might help us?

I am not aphyscain but the mom of a ttype one diabetic. we had theat problem with our duaghter.  we had it fir 2 almost a week,thedocotr said to send her to school if she was upt o it.  about a week later theboody started tochange.. mydaughter is the same age.the best way to put it "welcome to puberty".  It now happnes every few months and we have come to recognize it as a growth  spurt.  this might be what is happening to your daughter. iwould discuss it with your endocronolgist and see what he/she says.
