Low c-peptide

I got some blood work back, and my A1C was down a tiny bit to 6.9 and my Dr. ran a c-peptide test, and said it was Low, so what does this mean? He went on and gave me results of all the other tests and then had to leave. I'm hanging, someone please answer me.

It explains that the peptide numbers show how much insulin your body is making. Type 1 diabetic people normally make little or no insulin, and therefore have low peptide numbers. Type 2 diabetic people usually produce insulin, but have insulin resistance problems, and so take meds that increase the amount of insulin that the body is making. So if you are type 2, then it could mean that your pancreas has been strained by having to produce more insulin to compensate for insulin resistance and so it is making less insulin now. But if you are a type 1 diabetic person, a low peptide number is really to be expected, for our immune systems have damaged our insulin-producing cells and we just don't make much or any insulin of our own at all.

So if you are type 1, this doesn't really tell you anything unexpected, but if you are a type 2 taking oral medications, I would call my doctor and insist that this be explained to me. Does it mean that you are heading towards a situation where you need to inject insulin or does it mean that your diet includes low amounts of  carbohydrates and so your body doesn't need much insulin? Either way, I think I would ask my doctor to discuss it with me if I were a type 2 person.
