MiniPod pump?

by kraysmom, Sep 12, 2007 12:00AM
This is a pump with no lines attached and my daughter says she would try this one.  We were on the minimed pump for a year and it didn't work for her.  She is 16 years old and has finally agreed to try another one.  This pump looks a lot easier to handle.  Has anyone heard of it or using it now? If so, did your insurance pay on it?  I also heard that this particular pump, the insurance will not cover. thanks!

Hello again!  It's called the OmniPod:

http://www.myomnipod.com/

It is covered, as far as I've heard, just like any other pump.  You put the site in, then attach the pod over it.  It's not a small lump, but it is self-contained.  Team Type 1 (http://teamtype1.org/index.html) used them when they won the bicycle Race Across America this summer.  I know lots of people on this pump, and they love it.
