Pain with gastroparesis

I was wondering if anyone out there has a child or adult child..with severe gastroparesis and if they experience great amounts of pain. Her gastro doc doesnt want her on pain meds...but without them she would die! its a vicious cycle..the pain lead to worse nausea and vomiting, leading to dehydration and off the charts blood sugars leading to the obvious DKA..she spend way too much time in the hospital..it took her living basically at the hospital for 2 straight years before it was finally diagnosed..we are in our fifth year now.
I just really need to know if there are others out there with this pain problems and if they are on pain meds for it!

How did your daughter finally get diagnosed? My 13 year old has been diabetic since she was 3 and we were fairly well controlled until a year ago last January. She gets a stomach ache, throws up, gets dehydrated, keytones, blood sugars off the charts and has been in the hospital 7 times in a year. The last time this January 2011 for 8 days. She also had pancreatitis. I believe something is driving her bloodsugars and her into DKA.
