Polycystic Ovaries and Type 1

I'm just curious if Type 1 and polycystic ovaries come hand in hand. from what I've read, polycystic ovarian syndrome can cause type 2 if left untreated. I'm a little confused, I'm getting checked for POS, but I was diagnosed with type 1 over a year ago (when I was 23). Could there be anything other than POS?

Hi! I'm not a medical professional, just the parent of a kid with diabetes. I may also not be the right person to answer this question, being a guy and all! ;-) I've learned more about ovaries in the research I just did than I learned in all of high school biology!
From everything I can read about POS, you are correct in that it can lead to type 2, and I cannot find any reference to a link to type 1. It is likely just coincidence that you are afflicted with both.

You are not alone. I have POS and Type I. I take Glucophage to help my POS. I don't know how many people have both diseases. One of my friends has POS but no Diabetes so I don't know if there is a correlation or just a coincidence.
