Puberty and crazy sugar levels

We have only been dealing with diabetes for 3 months and in our education class we were told that when puberty hits things go crazy. My son is 10 and I know for a fact he is begining puberty but when we had a 430 and then 2 hours later a 33 I called our endo and asked if this was puberty crazy or somethings wrong crazy she said he is not going thru puberty they do not start untill they are 12. I was so frustrated one because a mom knows when these things start and she should know every ones body is different! I feel very helpless and need to know from the mommies how was puberty for you and what exactly does crazy mean!
