Stomach pains and thirsty 13 month old

by Brayden's Mom, Oct 16, 2006 12:00AM
I have a 13 month old little boy who is always thirsty, He throws a fit if I can't get his water to him fast enough. The past couple of weeks he hasn't been sleeping as well as he did, He wakes up in the middle of the night screaming. I am pretty sure it is his belly that is aching because he curls right up in a ball. He just wants me to lay him on my chest and rub his back until he finally falls asleep again. Neither I nor his father has diabetes but it does run in my family both my grandparents have it and one of my aunts has it. Would this be an onset of diabetes?

i am nopt a physican, but the mom of a type one diabetic and the daughter oif a type 2. it could b3e  several things that can cause this . iwould suggest you call your pedicatrican and have your son checked,.

Here are the symptoms of type one diabetes, if your child has any of these symptoms I would call your doctor and request that your child be testse4d for diabetes.
Knowing the warning signs for type 1 diabetes (juvenile diabetes) could save a child's life.
Warning signs of type 1 diabetes (these may occur suddenly):
„X Extreme thirst
„X Frequent urination
„X Sudden vision changes
„X Sugar in urine
„X Fruity, sweet, or wine-like odor on breath „X Increased appetite
„X Sudden weight loss
„X Drowsiness, lethargy
„X Heavy, labored breathing
„X Stupor, unconsciousness
If your child exhibits one or more of these symptoms, call a doctor immediately.
Education about the symptoms of type 1 diabetes is critical because type 1 can easily be mistaken for more common illnesses, such as the flu.
