Using Levemire ( w/ Novalog) ....
I was a user of Lantus since it came out, but had alot of hypo's and then started using the New Levimere ...
No More Hypo's over nite...

But?
Ave of every other Morning I will get up with high ( +150) levels and only way to catch this is by Setting my alarm for 3-4 hrs after bed and test and take a correction bolus if needed..

I take Levemire At 2 hrs before Bedtime
I have tried taking More in 2 unit increments every 3 days, until I added +10 more units to no avail..

I even stopped taking it and just use Novalog Only ( every 3 hrs, including overnite) and that works very well, but Can't get a Pump from the VA..

And yes, I go to bed with ave of 90's-115's and if higher? I take a Correction bolus of Novalog...

Thank you
Dennis

Hi, Dennis!  I'm not a medical professional, just the parent of a kid with diabetes.  First of all, thank you for your service to our nation.  Second, you sound like you're doing a GREAT job with control.  I'd be very happy if my daughter would have the kind of scores you note.

So it sounds to me like you've tried changing every variable with respect to the insulin dose.  What you're discovering is the frustration in not being able to predict exactly what your blood sugars will be when you don't change any other factor.  If you can figure out how to predict blood sugars, you need to patent it.  Your blood sugars can vary like you're seeing for many reasons, including stress or the types of food you eat or how much exercise you performed before you went to bed.  I'd switch back to using the levemire, and maybe look at changing your carb ratio for the novolog at your evening dose.  That's about all I could suggest.
