I just went through my testing for diabetes and it came back at 116, which my doctor tell me I have diabetes. Now I am taking 5 different meds and feel really upset. I think I should just loose my weight and change my diet. I am overweight by 70 pounds. From everything I have read, I am more pre-diabetic than anything and need to loose my weight. I am not sure what to do? I really don't like taking medicine.
Yes loosing weight will definably help but the medication needs to be taken. i do not mean to scare yu but mymomdid not take care of her diabetes at firsta and she is paying the price foir it now. Please take the medications abnd follow the doctors orders.
i hope this helps. please let us know how things are fgoing . you might also want to checkout the med help type2 site
I have Type 2 diabetes. I am taking my medicine that the doctor has given me, I just don't think my level is high enough to be diabetic, from everything I have read, my 116 is considered normal. Do you know what the normal range for a diabetic type 2 is?
I understand how difficult this initial period must be for you. In terms of your medication and your sugar level, it matters whether you were fasting before the test. If you had a fasting blood sugar of 116 that is high for a non-diabetic; if you had eaten within two hours before the test then 116 would not be cause for concern. Regardless, you should take the medications the doctor prescribed as indicated because you don't want your sugar level to creep higher. While you are doing that, though, you can absolutely exercise and change your diet and try to lose that weight. It's possible that you could eventually go off the medications if your weight and lifestyle change significantly, but that is a decision that you and your doctor can make when you get to that bridge. Good luck.
I agree with dellar that this levels seems pretty borderline. So keep checking and certainly lose those 70 pounds. You may find that your blood sugar levels drop with the weight. I hope so.
