These symptoms ..are they diabetic??

by lionnesss, Dec 05, 2007 12:00AM
My daughter has had some very bad symptoms that I wonder if they are diabetic symptoms...She has been getting nauseated about 2 times a week and throwing up lasting for 2- 3 days at a time. She has gotten eczema on her hands and on her face. ...She has been very tired and sometimes very grouchy...And her periods are sometimes very irregular lasting two weeks and with only a few days without it. She has gained about 30 pounds in the last year. She says that her back hurts and legs hurt alot intermittently..This all began with apendicitis and the removal of her apendix..since then she has not been the same..What do you think?? Could this be diabetes? I had gestational diabetes while pregnant with her and her sisters.

Hi, I'm not a medical professional, just the parent of a kid with diabetes.  Your daughter's symptoms do not sound like diabetes.  Typically diabetes symptoms include weight loss, for example, and not weight gain.  I would continue to work with your doctor to find out what is wrong.

These dont sound like your typical diabetes symptoms which include:
- weight loss
- frequent urination, especially at night
- very thirsty
- vomiting sometimes
- tired
- hallucination

The major symptoms are frequent urination and constantly feeling very very thirsty. Your daughters symptoms do sound like something you should see a doctor about immediately. It could be her iron.

She may have polycystic ovarian syndrome.
symptoms include weight gain, irregular periods, acne...

But I am not a doctor.

Good luck!

To: any diabetic
My 16yr old son has severe lower leg pain and a blood glucose level of 115. Any thoughts? We are getting his blood tested again to rule out diabetes. He is 6ft tall and 147lbs.and has a poor appetite and gets tired pretty easily. He's also not very verbal about what's been going on with the leg pain and all the tests-worried. Appreciate any response. Thanks.
