childhood diabetes

I have a 5 year old who has been very thirsty for about two weeks and he is also been complaining of headackes for the past 2 days.I was just wondering what are the blood sugar levels suspose to be in a child.I took it in the morning before he ate anything and it was 114.Is that normal ?My mother died of diabetes,so it is in his family.

fasting blood sugar over 120 is indicative of diabetes.  random of over 220 is indicative of diabetes.  114 is cutting it close but he's still below the cut off.  if i were you i'd keep an eye on him and check him every so often.
