Hello.  I'm not a medical professional, just the parent of a kid with diabetes.  There's an old saying that there's no time like the present.  The more you can test now, and the tighter you can control your diabetes, especially for the remainder of your pregnancy.  I would contact your endo immediately and tell them your situation.  They can help you work out a plan to get your diabetes in control, both for your health and the health of your baby.  Good luck.

Hi.  I am a type 1 diabetic since I was 6 y.o.  I am now 27 and just recently had my first baby.  Like you, I have never been in good control with an A1c in the 9s and 10s.  Hate testing cause I was always high.  But when I found out I was pregnant, I did everything I could to change my habits and get my sugars under better control.  I got my A1c down to 8 by the second trimester.  Then everything changed and my sugars went up again.  they will do that in the second and third trimester.  I was so worried through the whole pregnancy that something would be wrong.  I now hav ea very healthy and happy 16 month old son.
Pregnancy is very scarey with diabetes, especially if you are not under good control.  I had always wished I had someone to talk to that was in the same boat.  please feel free to e-mail me if you would like or have concerns.  I've been there, uncontrolled and scared.  Take care of yourself now...better late then never...and good luck.
