diabetic seizures

My son has had 3 early morning seizures in the last 5 weeks. He is 12 and has had a pump for the last 3 1/2 years. Any suggestions for treatment or any doctors that are the best for this in New England? Thanks

Are his seizures due to low blood sugar?  If so, you need to adjust his BASAL rate overnight. He is getting too much insulin at night.  CHeck his blood sugar before bed, once in the middle of the night.  If he is below 150 - he may need a sugar tablet - depending on his weight.  My son is 4 and on an insulin pump for the last 6 months, but my husband is also diabetic and has had a pump for 5 years.

Check his blood sugars for at least a week at those times and record everything. Report it to your doctor, and they can help you make a basal adjustment.  Since my husband is also type 1, we usually make adjustments ourselves.  Your child will continue to need changes as his body grows.
