Many people who have type 2 diabetes can go off of their medications if they: 1) lose weight (if they are overweight), 2) exercise regularly, and 3) watch their diets carefully. Although they still will be LABELED as diabetics, they effectively can live without medications. This doesn't work for all people, but it is possible for some. For the rest of their lives, though, they will have to be careful.

This website caters primarily to people with type 1 diabetes, but you can find lots of good information about type 2 diabetes at www.ada.org
