do i have to be on meds for the rest of my life

my doc just put me on meds yesterday, im 20 yrs old until after i had my baby 7 months ago and gained 30 more pounds after having him i never had problems with my sugar will i have to be on meds for the rest of my life or if i get back down to my normal weight will my sugar go back to normal, im really scared i need advice

Hello.  I'm not a medical professional, just the parent of a kid with diabetes.  I have a couple questions for you so that I can better answer your question.  Were you checked for or did you have gestational diabetes during pregnancy?  What kind of meds are you on?  Meaning, are you taking insulin shots (type 1) or are you taking other medicine (for type 2)?

during my pregnancy i failed the first sugar test but passed the 2nd but i could hardly eat anything im just on the pills and about 100 lbs overweight bcuz after i had him i did not have time to lose baby fat before i started having anxiety and panic really bad, if i dont have to be on meds after i lose weight and keep it there am i at higher risk for devoloping it later on in life

From what I have read, most women who develop gestational diabetes do not need meds for the rest of their lives. Once the hormones stabilize again, most of the time the diabetes goes away (there are hormones in high levels during pregnancy that act to block the action of your insulin). However, your weight gain does seem like the real problem. Fat cells are insulin-resistant, type 2 diabetes can be the result, as you are experiencing. No one can tell you if you will have to take the medications after you lose the weight, but many people do find that their sugar levels go back to normal if they can slim down. We wish you the best in your efforts to lose the weight. We women do have to deal with this after having babies, and for some women it is harder than for others. I encourage you to join a gym, start walking everywhere you go, with babe in stroller, and do all you can to lose those pounds. Both you and your little one deserve this!
