I am not a physican or nutritionist, but the mom of a type one diabetic. We do not use sugar free snacks as a lot of them contain an ingredient called manitol or sorbitol. This ingredient is in most sugar free items and can cause the runs along with bowel problems.  What we give our daughter is healthy no or low carbohydrate snacks. We were advised by our nutritionist to be careful of the “sugar free” foods, because most of them are higher in carbohydrates that the there counter part that is not sugar free.  She was able to give us a food plan and snacks that were normal food that we fit into our lives.  I would suggest that you contact a nutironist for some helpful and healthful ideas.

Our daughter has cheese, cucumber with dip, carrots with dip, 1 serving of cookies usually 2 or 3 depending on the brand, with a glass of 2% milk, nuts.  Ritz bits. With cheese or peanut butter. Fruit, applesauce.  She tries to eat a “normal balance diet.  The only sugar free thing that we give her is diet soda.

Along with fruits and vegetables, personally I like the South Beach Diet bars which contain around 15 grams of carbs (or less).  My kids love them too.

I Found these cookies that are "no sugar added" and the nutritional facts look good my kids love them and they are large in size.  They come in 5 flavors too! www.protocookie.com
