high blood sugar

My 11 year old son seems to be very thirsty lately and needing sugar.  This morning before breakfast I tested his blood sugar and it was 135.  This seems high for not having eaten, should I talk to the doctor about this?

hi,

yes, it is high. Normal is less than 95.   you could also try testing him 2 hours after eating. Anything above 120 is also too high.

He needs to get in to see his doctor asap and make sure they do proper testing.

In meantime try to give him complex carbs that digest more slowly than sugar.
