hypoglocemia

hypoglocemia

My daughter is 21 years old. She takes anti-depressant meds and from time t timeshe has to get blood work done to check her levels of medication. She is not supposed to eat or drink after 8pm the night before. But this particular time she did. Including waffles with syrup that morning. The next day they called and said her blood sugar was 47 Which indicated she has hypoglocemia. Do you think this is a mistake since she ate and wasn't suppose to?

No, not in the case of the blood sugar. Since she ate a very high carb breakfast and then went so low, she could have something called reactive hypoglycemia. She also should be tested for diabetes; though you don't say how long after eating the test was, but if she were diabetic that type of breakfast would drive her blood sugar sky high. She should talk to her doctor.
