inslets transplantation.Is it safe?I heard many different points of view

Goodmorning everybody.I have a son diagnosed three years ago as diabetic type I.Now he is 9 years old and he is doing fine physically and psycologically, even if he has many yo-yo but with 5,5 HBAic.Last week I read a personal experience from somebody in USA that had transplantation with great success without having been destroyed his (her( immune system.Ithink this happened in Florida somewhere and from 1995 he has no diabetes at all.Please, give me more details about that.How old are you that you did the transplantation of islets?Give me contacts of the clinic etc...
Thank you very much.I am a worried mum for my eldest son, with two other boys of 7 and 5 years old, hoping not having diabetes in their life...

In the US, organ transplants are handled by UNOS [United Network for Organ Sharing] from live donors or from a cadaver. You can drill down through the UNOS data base for all transplant centers [hospitals], what they do, what they have done year to date and past years, by organ type, gender, age, blood type, and so on.
