MY DAUGHTER WAS RELEASED FROM THE HOSPITAL THREE WEEKS AGO FOR
HEAVY KEYTONES IN URINE.BRIA'S GLUCOSE LEVELS HAVE BEEN GREAT
BUT, THIS MORNING I CHECKED HER KEYTONES AND THE KEYTONE STICK
WAS PINK I HAVE HER DRINKING WATER TO FLUSH THE KEYTONES OUT OF
HER URINE,BUT I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY SHE HAS THEM IN THE FIRST
PLACE BECAUSE HER GLUCOSE LEVELS ARE ALWAYS GOOD.THIS MORNING
HER GLUCOSE LEVEL WAS 112.

meke, several questions come to mind that may have a bearing on your situation. How long she has had diabetes, her age and if there were other issue's with her hospitalization.
Dehydration can cause ketones to concentrate in the urine which can possibly cause a false positive. Normal glucose readings, with positive ketones, can also occur when a person is vomiting, etc.  The body starts burning fat for energy.
Liquids are important to help flush the keytones, however, since she was in the hospital three weeks ago, I would call her physician to see if anything else should be done.

MY DAUGHTER OCCASIONALLY HAS KETONES  IN THE MORNING WHEN HER BS ARE IN THE NORMAL RANGE.  WHEN THIS HAPPENS I FLUSH WITH EXTRA FLUIDS, HOWEVER I ALSO CHECK HER BS LEVELS AT MIDNIGHT AND 3 AM FOR THE NEXT FEW NIGHTS.  THE CULPRIT IS USUALLY THAT SHE IS RUNNING HIGH THREW OUT THE NIGHT.  YOUR CHILD COULD BE RUNNING HIGH NUMBER DURING THE NIGHT BUT COMES DOWN TO RANGE AROUND THE TIME SHE WAKES UP.  ALSO IF SHE GETS DEHYDRATED SHE CAN HAVE NORMAL BS LEVELS AND HAVE KETONES.  DO CHECK WITH YOUR HEALTHCARE PROFFESIONAL AS HAVING KETONES IS SOMETHING TO KEEP UNDER CONTROL.

If your daughter is somewhat of an athlete or if she is not getting enough carbohydrates in her overall diet, there is a chance she's burning some stores for energy & that can cause ketone spills.

In any event, best to keep in close contact with her doc.

I TALKED TO THE NURSE AND TOLD HER WHAT WAS GOING ON AND SHE TOLD ME I WAS DOING THE CORRECT THING,GIVING HER EXTRA FLUIDS AND EXTRA INSULIN,WHEN I CHECKED HER KETONES THAT EVENING WHEN I GOT IN FROM WORK SHE WAS NEGATIVE.I HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE.

My son is four and has been in insuling for about six months or a little more.  For the last two weeks he has keytones large and then I check again and he has none.  This is going on for the last two weeks on and off.  His sugar has been on the high side between 200 and 300.  He is not tired but it seems like he has a stuffy nose.  I am very concern.
