managing with diabetes

my mum has just been told she has diabetes, she is very confused, she cannot see her doctor for two weeks, she really does not know what to eat, she was told on the phone by the doctor to cut out all sugar .
She is also Celiac so does not have wheat and gluten,
we have been on the Internet trying to find information on the best diet and how and when  to eat but are getting very confused
can anybody advise?

You need to go with her to the doctor how does he expect her to cut out all sugar when some food have their own natural sugar my daughter is a type 1 diabetic and we werent told that she could still have a chocolate biscuit but not the packet she should still have her meals at her usual times and if the doctor is going to have her counting the carbs then it tells you on the food packets how much carbs are in that food he needs to explain it to your mum properly if he can get her a doctor who know about diabetes and knows what hes doing
