severe headache

I have been having severe headaches for over a week now, seen my Dr., have been precribed a pain killer and anti-inflammatory.  I am 20 years old, under a lot of stress (family matters, college finals in two weeks, etc.).  Headache pain is running from the top of my head, down along side of my face and between my eyes.  I cannot drive due to the meds. I am on, can't study because my head hurts so much.  I am finally able to get some sleep due to the barbituate I am taking.  My Dr. has scheduled me to have a cat scan next week.  I am scared and tired of feeling this way!!!  Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I am not clear about whether you are a type 1 diabetic or not. Your posting doesn't tell us. Severe headaches can be related to either high or low blood sugar for type 1 diabetic people, but they usually subside once the blood glucose problem is solved. So your headaches don't sound like they are related to blood sugar issues. Maybe hormonal (if you are female)? Or true migraines. I hope the cat scan helps the doctor find the cause. I wish you the very best.
