type 1 diabetic numbness and swelling in arm

I have had type 1 diabetes for 15 years and am experiencing some pain and discomfort in my arm.  It is only in one arm and the symptoms get worse in the evening.  The pain will wake me up in the night.  My arm tingles, feels very tight and my fingers swell.  I have not noticed any swelling in my arm and my feet are ok.  Thinking I might have diabetic neuropathy, but not sure. Any thoughts or advice?

My advice would be to go to your endocronologist and ask.  Sometimes my fingers swell when I have eaten salty food or in the summer when I am playing sports in the heat.  I am a type I diabetic, 26 years.  I have not experienced what you mentioned and am sorry that I do not have better advice-but make sure you ask your doctor.  And this sounds kind of like a silly suggestion-but have you injured your arm-or are you lifting weights or trying new exercises-sometimes if I am experiencing different pains or soreness it is because I am trying a new sport or exercise.

It also sounds similar to the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. Just another idea for you to check with your doctor. That, of course, has no direct relation to your diabetes.
