Thank you! I truly do appreciate your comments and hope you let us know how you're progressing in your journey!
Thanks for the upbeat response. Injury causes scar tissue which, in my case, creates inflammation when I walk and the lower back becomes involved. The Yoga is loosening the hip joints and thus cutting down on the tightness of the linking of the lower back in the movement associated with walking in that area. Very frustrating when movements, like situps, produce inflammation. Thanks for the Curves tip - I would like to check it out. You sound like you have met a challenge as a mother with a great attitude and found many resources.
Hey Tumtum! I am the mom of an 18 year old who was diagnosed at the age of 21 months and I am happy to say that I have not had any experience with any of the physical conditions that you are dealing with as far as my daughter is concerned. I am sorry to hear of your current situation. The good news is that things do change and you can achieve your previous level of exercise, but you need to take it one day at a time. It's got to be so frustrating, not being able to do the things that you used to, but it sounds like you're heading in the right diretion with the Yoga, massage & walking. If you are a woman, there's a great place called Curves that is just for women and your work out can be as agressive as you like. It's a great 30 minute work out. Don't give up on walking either, even if it's not as much as you're used to, it's a start. Anything beats sitting home on the couch! Have you looked into getting the insulin pump? You may have better success in lowering your bg's with it. It may also help with your digestion as the basal rate going into your body all day long helps to maintain a more even keeled bg. There are many different manufacturers & you should discuss this with your physician also (we are not physicians here @ Medhelp). If you're on meds for your IBS, perhaps elevated bg's are a side effect. Have you checked this out? Try to focus on what you have accomplished since your accident. Sounds to me like you are a "can-do" type of person. Good luck to you!
