DD - age 9 - is complaining because

she cannot "get enough water" to quench her thirst.  She drank 3 jugs (32oz ea) of water yesterday afternoon within 1-2 hours.  She also complains of her feet hurting and not being able to see the board.  She actually got in trouble for getting up to fill her water bottle at school too much.  She said she wakes up at night extremely thirsty.  However, she doesn't seem to be urinating excessively.  I checked with both her teachers and they said she is drinking a lot but not using the bathroom a lot.  Also, she has lost 8 lbs in the last few weeks and still eats a lot.  Should I be concerned?  I just became aware of some of this yesterday and don't want to put off getting her checked if needed.  My friend, whose daughter has Type 1, wants to check her blood sugar.....

Thanks in advance
Janet

I was the same way when I was 15 just before I got diagnosed. So your best out would be to get you checked as soon as you get up in the morning. I was always thirsty and drinking something and constantly getting up in the middle of the night drinking water or something sweet and going to the bathroom but if she's not urinating that often with all this water you need to get her kidneys checked also. There is every need to be concerned when it comes to your child because I make sure to keep an eye on mine since it runs in my family and I have it. Go get her checked
