Daughter Type 1 Diabetic

I have a diabetic question.  My daughter was diagnosed a week ago and we are having trouble staying on the right time for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  We were actually late for both breakfast and lunch; but she didn't eat dinner at all!!! She slept right through and she was so tired that she wouldn't wake up.  No worries her sugar is staying stable for now.  My question is, it's time for her lantus and I'm not sure if missing her humalog(her dinner shot) is safe for her or if I should get her to eat and give her both???????

As much as possible it's important for her to eat on a regular schedule, but you handled the situation just fine.

I'm sure you know this but her blood sugars are definitely NOT stable when they are at 384, they are still extremely high. That is likely why she is sleeping so much. I don't know what your doctor told you but you need to have her doses reevaluated if those numbers don't start coming down soon. Did he help you establish an insulin:carb ratio so you know what doses to give her at her meals to balance the carbs she eats?

I know there is a lot to learn, and you have a lot on your plate. Hang in there, it will get easier. If you want the address of a website where you can get more information and support from other moms please send me a message (I'm not allowed to put them in the posts)

Some added info.  I just checked her sugar and it was 384 which is completly okay knowing that we are still a week new at this and her blood sugar used to stay up in the 500's, so I went ahead and gave her her nightly dose of the lantus and will be here to check her sugar at 2am....I know what to do then!!!
