Diabetes and hair loss

I am loosing my hair due to diabetes. I think this is a common problem for diabetics. The top of my head is where it is getting thin. It has got to the point where I find large number of hairs coming out each time I comb or wash my hair. This is so upsetting and frustrating. I’m seeing a doctor at Seager medical group tomorrow, a hair restoration clinic in Canada. I hope he can offer up some solution for my trouble. Please share if anyone else is facing the same problem.

Hi.  Are you a man?  Such hairloss may be normal and part of aging.  Is there any family history of similar hair loss.

Further you may ask to have your thyroid tested.  low thyroid is a common cause of hair loss, and low thyroid is also a common comorbidity with diabetes.

let us know how you go.

Hi,

if you are a man, the hairloss may be due to testosterone and normal.  Does such hairloss run in your family?

However, do ask your dr to check your thyroid.  Low thyroid is a common cause for hair loss, and low thyroid is a common comorbidity with diabetes.

Hope this helps.
