My 11 year old complains mostly about stomach pain. However, it has progressed into back and neck ache, headache, leg and foot pain. Do these sound familiar to anyone? I am new to this. I was told that she has impaired glucose tolerance, but her fasting insulin level (after 2 hours) was 234. From what I've read, this seems to fall into the diabetes category. She definiteyl seems better when we restrict her sugar intake.
Well, high blood sugars often result in upset stomach/stomach pains. High blood sugars will also cause muscel problems in some diabetics, these muscel problems can range from minor annoyances to dibilataing pain. A blood sugar of 234 is in no way ok to have, ask your endorconologist how to make the appropriate adjustments to your childs insulin to prevent this. Also remember that paying attention to diet is mandatory, make sure to get proper insulin for all carbohydrate intake.
