Stomach pains?

For about 2 years now, I have been experiencing bad stomach aches, weakness, hair loss, weight gain (sounds like fun, eh???) And the doctors simply cannot find out what is wrong. They thought I had adrenal insuf. and put me on cortef for 1 year, only to find out (after all that!!) that they never actually tested me for it, they just assumed that because I wasn't feeling well and I was weak that that was it...and in fact, I do not have it. I was taken off the sterorids all summer and then tested in August, my cortisol level was fine!!! I cannot tell you how mad that made me. So now I'm back to square 1. The stomach aches are definetly better, but they aren't gone. And the doctors still have no idea. Any ideas???

Nutrition, stress management (exercise), and medication management are the keys to my previous recovery from what you may be describing.  The prescriptions you take upset stomachs because they are non-food items and your body gets mixed up about how much acid it needs to digest the non-food.  Stop drinking coffee, start taking something like Prilosec if you have to take a bunch of medications and vitamins, and do take vitimins and amino acids because medications and IBS tend to cut down on the absorption of nutrients into body.  Try vitamins A&D (20,000), E (1200 mg.), C (2,000 mg), L=Glutamine for stomach healing, and the various fish and flax oils, DGL (licorice treated to cut out heart palpitation side effect), and antioxidants.  If you are over 35, take DMAE to support cell reproduction.  These all worked for me slowly but most important is to find the cause - if it is a medication, assess if it can be replaced by something else.  Anti-inflammatories always do me in after a certain amount of time because I had to take them for so long for some very bad injuries.  I cannot take ibuprofen or aspirin more than a couple of weeks before I get symptomatic now - I just eliminated them completely.  If I am having stomach problems I cease all coffee/caffeine, all high acid foods such as tomatoe sauce and alcohol, etc. etc.  The hidden effect of something wrong with you depletes your natural resources and using supplements can help but get it fixed whatever it is.  Look for swelling or, if high BG in a.m. is a problem, look at your teeth for gum disease and root canal needs; also a low grade bladder infection or, women's problems if you are female.  Changing to a better insulin may help the BG if you are already analyzing all food as to carbohydrate content and using Humalog accordingly.  When I had to go off my insulin for same reason, it was the calm befor the storm when my hormones were out of balance because my body's immune system was finally giving in to a major, major infection that was brewing from dental malpractice that had enormous ramifications due to the time it took to just find it and treat it - involving osteomyelitis, etc.  Good luck!

Please check your diet, daily activities, supplements and medicine you eating!

Some people cannot drink fresh milk, eat patato, some type of noodles even fruits causing stomach discomfort.

My advice
1. Change to another doctor?
2. Why not ask for stomach endoscopy?

Take care warmest regards...aidle

Hello hjade,

I am not a medical professional, so my advice is based on experience and knowledge in caring for my 10-1/2 yr. old son who is living with type 1 diabetes.  He was diagnosed at age 3.  In addition, my sister, now 33, was diagnosed at age 24.

My sister has had stomach problems and was told that she has irritable bowel syndrome or IBS.  You might want to ask your doctor about this, however, I have no idea about the hair loss and weight gain.  Are you on another medication that could possibly cause weight gain???  I would not know if the hair loss, weight gain and stomach aches are all caused from the same thing or separate issues.  Have you had your thyroid tested?  The only reason I ask is because I know that hypothyroidism can cause weight gain.

I am sorry I do not have a straight answer.

There are many volunteers who are very informed when it comes to questions like yours, so I am sure you will receive comments to your question.

If you find out anything from your doc, please update us.

Regards....
