low blood sugar and no insulin intake

I am a type 1 diabetic with good control (A1C always under 7).  In the last two days I woke up each morning with readings of 100.  Within an hour, (no food or humalog intake) blood sugar dropped to 40.  I ate (taking no insulin) and readings went up to about 80, but kept dropping to 60.  I am doing nothing differently than I usually do.  What is going on?

might be just stress then.
Do monitor for a week though

I am not sick or pregnant and have not changed anything in my lifestyle or diet.  It was pretty bad for two days and yesterday was a little more normal.

Start to record daily fasting and postprandial BG values in a journal,
Do check you BG at 3am for next subsequent days to rule out certain manifestations,
Also as super_sally888 mentioned, need to rule out illness, pregnancy, pre breakfast workout/exercise/walk, and long acting insulin dosage

Hello,

Are you getting sick?  or could you be pregnant?  Have you recently lost weight / changed your diet?

This may be temporary, or it may mean you need to change your basal rate / long acting insulin dosage.

Continue to monitor closely.  Hope this settles down soon.
