Hi,

what is the problem for applying your diet?
The best diet is low carb diet.  This means you need less insulin and your blood sugar is easier to control.

Are you taking MDI (multiple daily injections)?  DO you know your basal and bolus rates?  Ie. how much insulin you need when you don't eat (basal), and how much insulin to inject for how much carbs?  And then how much insulin to use for corrextions in case you are high?

Using Insulin is a great book, also Think Like A Pancreas.  If you can't get them from a local bookstore, you should be able to find them on Amazon.

Hope this helps.
