BLISTERS ON LEG

MY DAD HAS TYPE 2 AND HAS STARTED GETTING BLISTERS ON HIS LEG.
HIS PRIMARY CARE DOCTOR SAYS TO LEAVE THE BLISTER ALONE-BUT IT GETS REALLY BIG AND IT TAKES FOREVER TO HEAL AFTER IT POPS. IS THERE ANYTHING THAT CAN BE ONE TO KEEP THESE BLISTERS FROM REOCCURING?  HE HAD ONE ON THE FRONT OF HIS LEFT LEG-THEN HE GOT ONE ON THE BACK OF HIS LEFT LEG AND NOW HE IS GETTING SEVERAL MORE ON THE FRONT OF HIS LEFT LEG AGAIN.  ANY HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
