Blood Sugar readings are higher than expected

I have type 2 diabetes.  For several months, I was getting blood sugar reading between 90 and 120.  However, after this holiday season, my readings are much higher.  I know that during the holidays, I did not eat as well as I should have.  But could my bad eating be causing these higher readings that I am getting now?  Will my numbers eventually get back to what I was reading before?  I am eating about the same as I was when I was getting the good numbers before.

Hi,

Unfortunately, it is also possible that your diabetes has progressed, particularly if reverting to your previous eating habits is not returning blood sugar levels to your previous.

Are you exercising as well?  This may help?

If still high you may need to discuss with your dr about meds.

Thanks Julie...  so you are saying that it will take some time for my body to get back to normal, even though I have been eating healthy again (like I was before the holidays) for the past week?

Yes, if you stay away from the foods that you were eating during the holidays and start eating healthy again - your blood sugar reading should stablize and go back to what they were before the holidays.  Lots of us eat more than we should and end up with higher readings.  Keep me posted.  Julie
