Could this be diabetes?

Hello,

I'm a morbidly obese person, I'm currently 29 and lead a very sedentary lifestyle.  Last weekend I had to work on Saturday and I was physically overwhelmed and became extremely dehydrated due to working for 5 hours straight without being able to sit down and lifting moderately heavy trays.  At the time I had been taking Garcinia Cambogia pills to help lose some weight, i had been on them probably a month.  These pills, i believe, were continuously making me thirsty but after that very labor heavy day i was so dehydrated I felt I couldn't recover.  I love drinking sweet tea and was immensely addicted to it for years.  Since that saturday I can no longer drink tea and find it and other sweet drinks taste either odd or disgusting.  Also, Immediately after that saturday of overexertion I came down with some sort of really bad cold and was using over the counter stuff to treat it as well as home ready stuff.  I took Alka Seltzer tablets that i have never tried them before.
Long story short, it's now been a week since that hellish day and I continue to be in a state of constant dry mouth and thirst and no matter what I drink and how much I drink i still continue to feel thirsty.  On top of that I am constantly urinating and my sense of taste is off.  I no longer like tea and a lot of sugary drinks don't taste very good to me anymore.  The only things i can drink that still taste good are orange juice, lemonade, Sprite, and water.  Also, during my week of being sick I would have a light cough but when i did cough it felt as though my stomach would want to rip apart.  I would suffer intense pain from my large stomach and it was centered above my belly button.  Also, my urine seems to have a strong medicinal smell to it now.  And I don't know if this matters but since it happened at the same time all of this was happening, it seems either I suddenly have more foreskin than before or perhaps my penis has shrunk a little because in addition to the strong sudden smell of my urine, i have noticed there is extra skin on my penis.  All of these changes happening at once it makes it hard to tell what to attribute to these three events.  I wonder if taking these pills and then have the trauma of my body being overexerted suddenly might have somehow shocked me into Diabetes.  I know i'm large enough to have it and many people are shocked that I already don't have it.  Any comments would help please!

My dear man, you need to get a blood monitoring from Walmart, they are inexpensive and strips. Ask the pharmacist for assistance. If you can, get to a doctor asap!! If you don't have insurance or funds, see about your state insurance. Like Oregon has the Oregon Health Plan. Find an office that has a sliding scale payment plan. I feel you are scared and reaching out for help. The best person to help you though, is you. No one knows you are hurting unless you reach out... I went many years even after I knew I had diabetes and hid my voice because I didn't want to believe it. The only one I hurt was me. Growing up in an abusive environment, I was use to feeling down on myself, but truth be told. I didn't see myself like the forest through the trees kind of thing. There is only one you! There will never be another. You are worth being, doing whatever you desire. You are young, so young and worth taking the path to health and the rest of your life. Standing at the fork in the road, it is your choice, it's all about choices... Also, it is against the law to work five hours with no break!! Need to drink water, lots of water to stay hydrated. Please, please make a choice now while you are young. Make you, Mr. McGree your #1 cheerleader. You are sooo worth it!! There are lots of apps for encouragement. I use an app called "lose it" Oh my goodness, it is sooo easy and the BEST THING I know of that is helping me lose weight. I hope this helps you. I wish I had done these things earlier in my life, but you, you have youth on your side. What a gift! Best wishes my friend. :)

Hello,

Please see a doctor to determine if you do have diabetes.  You should do this as soon as possible.  The symptoms you describe could be from diabetes or could be from something else.

Also, an illness can trigger Type 1 diabetes, even considering your weight type 1 is still a possibility.  In such case treatment is needed urgently and is insulin.

Please stop drinking all sweetened drinks and avoid sweet foods.  Take just water.

Weight loss is best achieved though following a low carb diet (avoid all sugar and white carbs), and getting what exercise you can.  As you are morbidly obese, it may be difficult to do conventional exercise at first, but even simple exercises like leg peddling, raising arms continuously and for a period of time count as exercise.

Please come back and let us know that you saw a doctor and were tested and what the outcome was.

Hope that you can use this experience to get your health turned around and heading towards a better place.
