Diabetic Ketoacidosis
My brother in law has type 2 diabetes. Friday he woke up very confused. His wife called 911, went to hospital, discovered he was in renal failure and had pneumonia. They put him on a ventilator. Kidneys started recovering, as did breathing. Took him off ventilator and he has been very confused and combative ever since.  It's like he isn't there.
Is there hope that this can pass? Can he return to us?

Sorry to hear about your bro-in-law. Inquire at the nurses station when his attending physician/s make their morning rounds and try to be there when they do. They are the only ones who can possibly answer your question/s.
