False/Positive Urine Testing

I belong to a Pain Clinic I am randomly drug & alcohol tested,I was just dropped from the program for testing positive for alcohol for the third time I DO NOT DRINK!!! I am Diabetic. Could my diabetes be the problem?

Thank You so much for this information,the pain clinic could care less what the problem might be,if you test positive you're out.I needed this for my own information because it just made no sense.

hello,

are your blood sugars running high such that you are having ketones?  Another cause can be extending fasting.

The alcohol test may not be able to distinguish between ketones in diabetes and alcohol.  So for sure ketones could affect the test results. You need to discuss this specifically with the pain clinic doctors.  You may need to show them proof about your blood sugar levels / ketones.

You may need to do ketone testing as well.
