Yes! You do need to worry!!! I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes for about 3 years, then slipped to diabets. My book sugards fluctuate, the highest 168, and lows around 98. Weight is also an issue, but before my husband passed away, he was diagnosed as pre-diabetic, and only weighed 139lbs. It's how your body process, or doesn't, the carbohydrates and sugars you eat. I lost 40 lbs after his death, and I have more trouble keeping stable than when I was extremely overweight. Stess,, anxiety, depression, can all contribute to diabetes and controlling it. Good luck, and work on it. Daily figer sticks are no fun!
Hi there,
At age 28 it took 1 year to go from pre to full blown type II. I just couldn't lose the weight. I changed my eating patterns a little bit, but just didn't take it seriously enough. I reall wish I did. I'm 40 now and with much therapy am now losing the 100 pounds I've been carrying. My A1C has never been over 7 and I never had to use insulin. YEA! I am confident I will be able ot greatly reduce my type II diabetes. I exercise every day one hour and am losing the weight. Good luck to doing it now and not later!
All the best!!!
Echocardiogram and holter 24hr test were done on my heart, both came back fine...heart issue turned out to be a caffiene issue.
haven't had foot pain/leg numbness all day today. am on low carb diet again and running.
wanted to see anyone on here who had prediabetes and then how long until they changed to full blown. along w/ my other questions.....
btw I did go to that website...thxs!
For questions 1,3,4 you may find answers on The American Diabetes web site http://tinyurl.com/34etc6. Poke around for there is a section on prediabetes prevention.
As far as "how long should I wait to see dr about pain/tingle/numbness in arm/leg/foot". You should see a doctor asap. You didn't mention whether you were administered any cardio tests during your ER visit. I would expect the minimum of a treadmill test with a cardiologist present to rule out any heart issues. Diabetes would be the least of my immediate concerns until this is ruled out.
Good luck and good health.
