Both of my parents have diabetes.  I am concerned that I may have it one day too.

Here's an expert answer to that question from MedHelp.org and the Sugar Sense app. You can find this in the app by clicking the menu bar in the upper left and selecting Health Guide, then navigating to the Expert Answers section.

Both type 1 and type 2 diabetes have genetic links.  there is no certainty.

You dont say what type of diabetes your parents have.

With type 2 there is a higher genetic link than type 1.  Regardless you may or may not end up with diabetes.   However, for health, stay fit, avoid processed food, eat lower carb, and do monitor your health.  Diabetes can be well managed and not impact your life if caught in time.  Be proactive.  Enjoy your life.
