Hi,
I've been having alot of body problems recently and went to the doc to have some tests done.
I had a CBC, Thyroid, Glucose, Cholesterol, RA and some more.
I have both Type 1 and Type 2 in the family and my Fasting Blood Glucose was 103.
The doctor didnt mention anything to me about it, though I have read this is prediabetes? Is this correct?
I am 5'3, 115lbs and I would say I excersise averagely. I do eat a fair amount of chocolate, and always have.
Can they determine prediabetes just from your Fasting Blood Glucose?
I have had blurry vision for months now, and lots of numbness and tingling in my legs and feet.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
xLx
Fasting blood sugar is not by itself adequate to know if you are diabetic or prediabetic (103 would generally be considered pre-diabetic).
Your fasting is on the high side. Truly normal will be < 90.
Given your symptoms, you need some more tests. Particularly HA1c, which will give average blood sugars over the past 3 months.
If you have access to a blood sugar monitor you should test 2 hours after eating a regular meal and see what your numbers are. If they are < 120, then you definitely need to be looked into.
In the meantime, cut out the candies and reduce carbs.
Let us know how you go.
