Metformin disaster

Started on Metformin less than 1 week ago. I had to stop, it made me so weak, lethargic, stomach pain, and running to the bathroom every 20 minutes. This is it going to work. I can't believe I stayed at work. Anybody else have that reaction.

My Endo doc started me on metformin. But they way I had to take it made it very tolerable. Week 1- 1 pill a day at dinner
           Week 2- 2 pills " " " "
           Week 3- 3 pills
           Week 4- 4 pills
I only had one incident in the bathroom :) but after that it was a piece of cake. But everyone is different. I can only tell you how it worked for me. I had been suffering with blood sugars in the range of 300-600+ and insulin alone wasn't helping until my Endo added the metformin. Alone with my diet and exercise my blood sugars are NEVER over 150. I am so grateful and feeling a lot better physically and mentally.

If you are taking ER, don't break those to get lower dosages.   For those, to get a lower dosage you would have to buy the lower dosage.

Metformin starts of rough on a lot of people, but most people's bodies adapts to it.

Be well

You can also try again starting at a very low dose and building up slowly.

Ie. start with 1/4 of a tablet once a day.  Once you can tolerate that without problem, then increase to 1/2 tablet once a day until you are fine with that... and then increase gradually until you get up to effective dose.;
