Mirtazapine is used as a sleep aid, amitriptyline is used for neuropathy.
Does Mirtazapine interfere with insulin absorption  (Novolog 70/30)?  Should Mirtazapine and Amitriptyline be taken together?

Hi!
Usually Mirtazapine and Amitriptyline are not prescribed together as they have the same effects. One drug is sufficient. If at all they need to be prescribed together, it needs to be done with caution and under medical supervision. Mirtazapine has no effect on glucose homeostatsis and does not affect insulin absorption. However, it may cause weight gain and fat deposition and may affect sugar levels this way. Please discuss with your treating doctor. Take care!
