Non-diabetic or diabetic?

I recently had blood work performed and my Hemoglobin Alc was 6.0 H, yet to the right of this it says the
following:  % of total Hgb
                NON-DIABETIC: <6.0%

Am I a diabetic or not?

You should get a glucose tolerance testing done to determine if you are diabetic or not.  They would give you a sugary drink, 2 hours after, if your blood sugar is greater than 11.1 mmol/L, then you would be considered diabetic.  If blood sugar is between 7.8 -11 mmol/L, then you are prediabetic (this means borderline diabetes and you do have chance to go back to normal).  Another way to get diagnosed of diabetes is to have your fasting blood sugar tested.  Fasting refers to no caloric intake for at least 8 hours.  if fasting blood sugar is more than 7.0mmol/L, then you would be diagnosed with diabetes.  To prevent from being diabetic, it is important to adhere to healthy lifestyle--healthy eating and exercise.

If your lab results indicated your A1c high water mark as <6% (less than), and your results were 6%, your glucose is at maximum normal levels and starting to get uncontrolled. You're at the point where doctors would consider you a prediabetic. If you wish to become a type 2 diabetic, continue to snack on those donuts and twinkies. Otherwise exchange those bad habits with fresh fruits instead.
