What is this test result?

i had a blood test. Haemoglobin A1 c measurement is 40 mmols/ mol
What does this mean?

A normal range is about 20–40 mmol/mol, This is for a healthy person.

The A1C is a blood test,  It test your blood sugar average over several months,  This is how the doctor can see how your sugar has been over a small period of time, it gives them more information than just a fasting.

Thanks for reply. Just I was to an Endo. She was lecturing me saying I was well on the way to Diabetes? Maybe she was putting the frighteners on me??

That means that your Blood sugar (BG) is in the normal range.

What the test check is to see how much Glucose is stuck to your red blood cells.  if you have too much glucose stuck to your cells it means your BG is too high.
the test is an average of the last 3 months as that is how long red blood cells live.
