thanks for the responses. i went for a second set of tests at a different lab. the a1c is 6.2  fasting glucose was 99   and now the two hour post meal glucose was 107.....doc said he cant dx at this time because the numbers are now normal sans the a1c. he thinks the infection may have caused some small spike but not that much. i used the official nyc lab this time. i havent had time to moderate diet and excercise in just 4 days. whole thing seems odd but doc seems to think if i cut 20 pounds this goes to a normal range. we shall see!

I'm a diet controlled type 2; no medication.  I test like a manic.  I test at the same times throughout the day like a machine and graph the results using my smart phone.  I also eat like a machine as well consuming the same old stuff every day of the week.  I don't mind. It works for me.  But this borderline OCD gives me reliable data to base other observations on.  I have noticed that if I'm ill, or if I pull my back which I occasionally do, my tests will rise a bit for a few days before settling back.  It's more than the tolerance of the test strip, there's something happening there.  I also notice that my lowest test readings occur in the winter months.  As Spring warms up, my graph will rise a bit through the summer and my A1C aren't as good as they are when the cold sets in.  I have no idea why, but something appears to be happening that would be hard to pass off as coincidence.
