diabetes and smoking

Does smoking inhibit the absorption of glucose thus predisposing you to diabetes

You appear to be in denial so here's a few reasons to remind you to quit quit smoking today. I found 497,000 hits just by Goggling the subject "smoking and diabetes" [without the quotes]. http://tinyurl.com/5uprfd .

Some of the complications of smoking on diabetes include retinopathy (eye disease), heart disease, stroke, vascular disease, kidney disease, nerve damage, and foot problems. Lest not forget smoking causes cancer of the mouth, throat, bladder, lungs, and MANY others. What more do you need to convince you to stop puffing?

I am not sure, I was just told I have type 2, and my doctor told me that I have  to quit smoking,  When you find out something please let me know too
