What is happening is the pneumonia is exacerbating the diabetes. Once you get the pneumonia under controll her glucose levels should start leveling out again along with all her other vitals....She needs to go see Dr. and get put on a round of antibiotics....depending on how serious the pneumonia is, she may have to go on IV antibiotics, but that would be the doctors call, hopefully shes not that far off. But yeah when a diabetic gets sick, it almost always throws there blood sugar around and it makes it hard to stick to your original carb/insulin ratio....hope I have helped...good luck!

Get her to the dr now!!  Hopefully you haven't waited on a response from this website.  This is just patients talking to each other.  There is NO dr on this board!
