After 12  years uncontrolled would definitely be having complications.

How severe they are would need to be assessed.

Even 1 or 2 years uncontrolled the person with diabetes will likely begin to have neuropathy and eyes are probably affected.... risk of heart disease much increased.

Hello,

Obviously uncontrolled diabetes and high blood pressure will lead to complications and health issues.  These could include damage to eyes, heart, kidneys and circulatory system.

These could become life threatening.  I hope that this person is able to understand and make decision to be responsible for his or her health by taking medications, controlling diet and exercise, weight management, and testing frequently.

Complications may be at least partially reversed if good control is achieved.
