Your question is sort of an oxymoron but as you'll see from my answer both are similar in some ways. Both mammo & Super_sally888 are correct in their assessments. In mammo's case it is a disease but, as sally stated, a condition that can be treated and managed before it gets out of hand. I got my diabetes as a side effect from medication. In my case it's classified as an conditional disease.
It's a disease which has an hereditary factor involved. When someone is aware it's in the family, it's good to eat properly, maintain your weight, and exercise. It doesn't mean you will definitelty develop diabetes, but you are pre-disposed to developing it. Knowledge is power, so knowing this is a possibilty should make one more aware of how important it is to maintain a healthy lifestyle to keep from developing diabetes.
I'd say it's a condition that needs to be treated and managed, else you will end up with many serious complications.
whether it is a disease or a condition, doesn't change the fact is has to be managed.
I'm not a doctor but I do know some say alcohol is a disease and others say it is a condition.....Either way, it can be treated!!!!
