iv contrast and meds
When a patient has any radiology test ordered utilizing iv contrast, glucophage, avandamet, and glucovance cannot be administered for 48 hrs after the test?

Hi there!

Yes, the antiglycemic agents should be withheld 48 hours before and after the administration of an i/v contrast dye to prevent complications such as renal dysfunction, lactic acidosis etc.
