How might we head off any long term effects?
Proper nutrition, smaller portions, proper weight, & moderate daily exercise.
Repair any damage?
Depends on the damage. Only a doctor can tell you this after an examination.
This happened to him while he was in the hospital
The attending physician said that they had hospital policy that didn't allow them to give him more than 5 - 10 units.
So... long term effects? How might we head off any long term effects? Repair any damage?
Ditto Dot. Next, hope not, go to ER immediately.
I always keep a two week minimum supply of any medications due to unknown delays in refilling the RX.
You should have taken your husband to the ER. The ER doctor can prescribe an emergency RX order to fill in for the wait period. Glucose ranges above 400 is dangerous and mid 500 is very dangerous, close to electrolyte imbalance.
